Browser Settings

Browser Requirements And Configuration

If you click on a button in your browser window and nothing happens, you may need to enable your browser to use JavaScript (or Active X). JavaScript is a programming language that is used to build interactivity into web pages. In addition, you may need to instruct the browser to accept cookies or not to give an alert each time they are sent. Cookies are used to share information between web pages.

Browser Requirements

Netscape 4 with JavaScript enabled, cookies accepted, no cookie alerts, and non-zero cache - Configuring Netscape 4

Configuring Netscape 4

Go to the 'Edit' menu on the Netscape Navigator window.
Select 'Preferences'.
Click on the word 'Advanced' in the 'Category' window.
The box for 'Enable JavaScript' should be checked. If not, click on it.
Either 'Accept all cookies' or 'Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server' should be checked.
'Warn me before accepting a cookie' should not be checked.
Go back to the 'Category' window and click on the '+' sign next to 'Advanced'.
Click on 'Cache'.

If both 'Memory Cache' and 'Disk Cache' are set to 0, set one to a non-zero number.
Typical values are 1024 KBytes for 'Memory Cache' and 5000 KBytes for 'Disk Cache'.
Click on the 'OK' button.
Configuring Netscape 3

Go to the 'Options' menu on the Netscape Navigator window.
Select 'Network Preferences'.
Click on the 'Languages' tab.
The box for 'Enable JavaScript' should be checked. If not, click on it.
Click on the 'Protocols' tab.
If the box for 'Show an Alert before Accepting a Cookie' is checked, click on the box to turn it off.
Click on the 'OK' button.
Configuring Internet Explorer 4

Go to the 'View' Menu on the Internet Explorer window.
Select 'Internet Options'.
Click on the 'Advanced' Tab.
Scroll down until you see the 'Security' section.
Click on 'Always accept cookies'.
If the button for 'Prompt before accepting cookies' is selected, click on the button to turn it off.
Click on the 'OK' button.

Go to the 'View' menu on the Internet Explorer window.
Select 'Options'.
Click on the 'Security' tab.
The box for 'Run Active X scripts' should be checked. If not, click on it.
Click on the 'Advanced' tab.
If the box for 'Warn before accepting cookies' is checked, click on the box to turn it off.
Click on the 'OK' button.
Exit and restart the browser.
